Engineering beyond the factory: José Antonio & Joan Miquel | Your Builds by Forge Motorsport | Celebrating 30 Years of performance engineering.
Behind the glamour and high-octane world of motorsport race day lies the beating pulse of something far more intricate and longstanding. After the paparazzi have their cover shot and the drivers go home, the focus turns to the engineers, developers, and mechanics who work tirelessly to bring a dream to reality.
Over 1,500 miles away from Forge HQ is the Balearic Island of Mallorca, an island known for its vibrant Old Towns, Gothic Cathedrals, and picturesque beach coves. The scene is perfectly set for an Aperol Spritz, or a cold pint of Sullerica. Yet,this isn’t where you’ll find us today. We’re meeting true Spanish Royalty, José Antonio and Joan Miquel, the Kings of ‘The Pit’.
The Pit and its “Bunker” is a private workshop, built block by block by José and Joan, both Higher Technicians in Automotive Engineering. Their workshop is a blend of mechanical authority and creativity without limits. Spain's wizards of car mechanics can be found here.
Today, we are welcomed by their impressive BMW M2 rebuild. José playfully tells us, “This is not a Ferrari pit box’, however, the skill and attention to detail make a strong counterargument. The M2 in front of us is not the shell that arrived with José and Joan. Practising “cult” mechanics, they have restored and improved the vehicle beyond anything BMW could have imagined fresh from the factory.
José jokes that he has a slightly unhealthy habit of admiring well-made parts the way a kid admires an ice cream (with oily hands, of course), and that for their rebuild meticulous work was imperative to elevating the vehicle away from the original OEM plastic construction.
We were tired of seeing builds that “claimed motorsport DNA”, yet arrived with finishes that “belong in a school project”, José tells us. Upon lifting the hood, we have a clear view of an exceptional engine bay, A blend of custom design by José and Joan, mixed with Forge Motorsport. The M2 was a build made for real heat cycles, capable of withstanding track and road use and delivering constant performance gains.
Pointing to the intercooler, Joan proudly notes this is no compromise; “it truly is a piece of craftsmanship”. FMINT135F20, in a polished finish, shines proudly in the sun. “That aluminium work and those TIG welds aren’t there for show, they’re there because someone cared”, Joan says. Designed for BMW vehicles with the N55 3.0 single-turbo and N54 twin-turbo engines, it’s an intercooler that can be installed without cutting the car's bodywork. Delivering a 25°C temperature drop, the power increase from this alone has added an additional 10 BHP to the M2.
Stepping back, we can see our Silicone Turbo-to-Intercooler Hose and Boost Pipe for BMW. José smiles and tells us, “Compared to the OEM plastic original, this step up in construction quality is not subtle. You can feel the difference immediately, and respect it”.
A faulty charge pipe and broken hoses from degradation are the last things an owner should have to navigate, so the M2 is ready for a summer ahead, delivering consistent speed in all driving conditions.
As the engine roars into life, the 3.0 Litre turbo is a beast that even the Brandy de Jerez’s Bull would be intimidated by. As we take to the highway, we can feel the pull and aggression ready to be unleashed on track. This M2 Build summarises the love and engineering that go into true performance parts.
Forge Motorsport are proud to supply enthusiasts as exceptional as José Antonio and Joan Miquel.
As we celebrate 30 years of Forge Motorsport, we look back on the builds and the people behind them, who continue to shape and define the Forge Nation.

Silicon Hoses.com | Customer Article (Chris Lloyd)
Few things thrill quite like a build that refuses to simply tip its hat to motorsport heritage, instead delivering it centre stage for all to admire. Meet Chris Lloyd, or as his legion of Instagram fans know him, @burnoutlloyd, a true icon among the Silicon Hoses faithful.
When we caught up with Chris, his BTCC-inspired Nissan Primera wagon didn’t just turn heads. It completely stole the spotlight. The boldness of an SR20DET-swapped estate is impressive enough. But it’s the relentless pursuit of perfection, visible in every meticulously crafted part, that truly sets it apart. Featuring a full Silicon Hoses set up, Chris is ready for 2026!
Aside from being a fantastic example of our universal hoses in a custom build, we have to celebrate the livery! This isn’t a backstreet replica. It’s a painstaking homage to the 1999 championship-winning British Touring Car Championship Primera. The car’s look was brought to life using genuine Nissan Motorsport files. Andy Bell, a veteran of designing for Team Dynamics and even Haas Formula 1 Team, created the design. This marks the first time the iconic Vodafone BTCC livery has graced a road car.
This is where classic touring car nostalgia crashes headlong into modern craftsmanship, and we could not be more on board.
Watch for Chris at events this year, including the Forge Motorsport Brunch Club on May 30.

LinkedIn | Driving Efficiency and Sustainability | Silicon Hoses’ Digital Transformation in 2026
Since 2026, Silicon Hoses has operated as a fully digital organisation. This transition from traditional paper-based processes has enhanced operational efficiency and reinforced our commitment to environmental stewardship. Our digital picking system enables our team to manage large volumes of information securely and efficiently. Despite challenges such as political instability and global shipping disruptions, we have increased order processing speed by focusing on core business priorities and continue to deliver international orders reliably and on schedule. Our commitment to supplying industrial and domestic hose solutions worldwide remains steadfast.
It is well documented that environmentally sustainable practices benefit both businesses and the environment. We maintain a firm commitment to initiatives that drive strategic environmental innovation. Prioritising long-term sustainability by implementing new technologies and maintaining ethical supply chains. Companies House noted in their summer blog that “going green is good for business,” while Forbes commented that businesses “maximise” their potential by prioritising environmental responsibility. Defining “good” business practices can be complex when operations span multiple countries, languages, and procurement standards. However, we are proud to demonstrate through our actions a benchmark for best practice.
Recent data from the Office for National Statistics indicate that 56% of UK businesses are actively working to reduce carbon emissions, and nearly 29% are adopting paperless practices to support this objective. These figures highlight the significance of digital transformation for business development and sustainability, and illustrate why organisations such as ours are proactively promoting greener practices. The environmental benefits of our transition to paperless operations are considerable. Reducing paper consumption decreases waste and lowers our carbon footprint. Our orders use fully recyclable paper for packaging, reducing shipping loads and prioritising renewable, low-waste shipping methods. UK emissions have declined by more than 40% since 1990, and we are proud to contribute to this national progress.
As the first quarter of 2026 draws to a close, demand for bespoke hose solutions at our UK head office continues to grow. Our expertise in developing custom silicone hose solutions, alongside established partnerships within the aftermarket performance sector, remains a key differentiator and a valued asset to our customers.
Beyond bespoke projects, we have expanded our footprint by building new relationships with industrial clients in the manufacturing, marine and offshore sectors. At the same time, continued collaboration with our existing partners has ensured consistent delivery and support, contributing to another successful quarter. Operating with agility and a clear commitment to environmental responsibility, Silicon Hoses remains focused on delivering high-quality, tailored hose solutions to customers across Europe and beyond.
